I’ve had a blast in Australia. The food, the people, the weather – it’s all been great. However, there are definitely some things I miss about home. Here are my top 5:
5) Cheap food
Cheap as in price, not quality. A burger, fries, and soda at school is $8; here it’s $25.
4) Ease of transportation
At home I can drive. At BC I can take the T. Here, everything is much more spread out. The campus is three kilometres from the house, and many of the stores are a good walk away. Not that I’m complaining – I really don’t mind walking long distances. It just makes things less convenient and more time-consuming.
3) Dishwasher and dryer
Life without a dryer is tough; life without a dishwasher is even tougher.
2) Family and friends
Goes without saying.
1) Baseball
The Yankees have played a bunch of Spring Training games already, and unfortunately I haven’t been able to watch them. I’m lucky to live in a time where video highlights, stats, and information about the team are readily available on the internet, but it’s not the same as sitting down and watching the game live. In that same vein, it has also been difficult missing some recent NCAA basketball games – March Madness is my favorite time of year and the games are just starting to heat up.
